Artists' Gardens

Friday, September 30th

10:00am - 11:00am

In this visual book review, discover artists whose lives included gardens. Not just any gardens, but magnificent ones which were, in one way or another, intertwined in their work. Several of these artists lived in the late 1800’s and, surprisingly, though most are famous for their artistic works, their wonderful gardens still exist and can be visited today -- in the 21st century! Regardless of when or where they lived, these “artist gardeners” all share one commonality -- a love for what is beautiful, inspiring, creative and imaginative.  Join presenter Suzann Wilson for a fascinating journey through time, styles, ideas, and personalities.  Suzann led private tours of gardens and stately homes in England, France & Italy for 14 years and is currently a photographer and painter living in Carefree, Az.

The Art & Science of Deep Space - Dark Sky Images

Wednesday, October 12th

1:00pm - 2:00pm

Through his images of our universe which are his expression of the beauty and wonder of deep space, Ken Naiff conveys his passions in astronomy, art and technology through astrophotography. As a small boy in England, Ken observed Sputnik through a small telescope in 1957 - the start of his life-long interest in astronomy. He hopes his images will provoke questions that will provide insight into the beautiful and awe-inspiring objects that await discovery and are just beyond our eye's grasp in our studded Milky Way, and beyond. Ken has a 30 year career in electronic engineering and digital systems (including developing digital television) and has been awarded seven U.S. patents for semi-conductor devices and circuits.
