An informal discussion of books, film and theater, led by a facilitator. No requirements to read or see any particular book, film or play. Everyone is invited to share ideas and reflections on the selected theme.
This Month: A Fresh Start – As 2020 approaches, perhaps you are thinking of reinventing yourself or, after a loss, reflecting on the past and moving forward. Think of characters in books, plays or films that have developed a vision or fulfilled a dream, took a risk or just moved on. Is the “new start” a conscious choice? A result of circumstance? Is it positive or does it turn out to be a mistake? You are welcome to come and share a personal fresh start or perhaps a New Year’s resolution. Suggestions: The Grapes of Wrath (John Steinbeck), The Count of Monte Cristo (Alexandre Dumas), How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accent (Julia Alvarez); or, the films Bread and Tulips, Enchanted April, Shirley Valentine, The Station Agent or Babette’s Feast (also a short story by Karen Blixen).
