Tom Struve and his wife Shannon moved to Goodyear AZ from Minnesota in April of 2012. Tom and Shannon are both writers and along with their dog Riley, they enjoy every outdoor activity.
Tom grew up on the banks of the Mississippi River at Prescott, WI. His childhood dream to pilot towboats was fulfilled as he became the youngest captain to ever be licensed out of the Chicago, IL Coast Guard office on his twenty-first birthday in April of 1973. Tom was an active towboat captain for more than two decades. The first three of Tom’s books, ALL ABOUT TOWBOATS, DECKHAND DAYS, AND PILOTHOUSE DAYS are about that time in his life.
Shannon just published her first book called LOVE STORIES, Inside Stories of an Outside Girl. A series of short stories and essays about outdoor hobbies she loves, it is receiving super reviews! Shannon also writes a very popular weekly BLOG that can be found at https://MyGoldenHears.com
Tom and Shannon co-wrote their two most recent books. THE SAN DIEGO DOG BEACH BOOK is a guide that helps dogs and their humans enjoy all the beaches that allow dogs in the San Diego Area. Tom and Shannon are also avid sport kite enthusiasts and have just completed a book titled THE LEADING EDGE that will help beginners understand how to get started flying sport kites.
Tom has presented multiple self-publishing workshops including a 2018-2019 winter-spring series for the PORA Educational Outreach at Sun City.
