If you stop by the library this month you may notice that love is in the air!  February is national Love Your Library Month, and we are feeling the love. You can’t miss the lollipop sculpture, photo booth and props, and plenty of hearts and streamers strewn about. Across the country, people are speaking up about how much their libraries mean to them.

When you check out books, you may notice a new blurb at the bottom of your checkout receipt. You’ll see how much you just saved by using your library, as well as how much you’ve saved so far this year, and a grand total of how much you have saved since you began using the library. From time to time you can hear patrons and volunteers exclaiming from the front desk about how much they’ve saved. Just think about all those seasons of Game of Thrones you’ve checked out, or the money you could have spent reading all of Stuart Woods books or James Patterson!

This month, we are really asking to hear from YOU, our library users. Let us know what you love about the library by filling in a heart at one of the stations in the library and you’ll be entered into a drawing for some great prizes. Or if you’d rather, a picture is worth a thousand words so you can take a photo of yourself and post on social media with the hashtag #ilovedesertfoothillslibrary, or #iloveDFL.

It may be hard to believe but Desert Foothills Library is celebrating its 65th birthday this month! We will be hosting a reception for anyone who loves the library on February 15th from 4:30 to 6 pm with cake and light refreshments. Please join us so we can thank you for supporting the library. Thanks to an anonymous foundation, all donations made in February to the Desert Foothills Library will be matched up to $15,000. All the money raised will support the library, and the matched funds will go directly toward funding resources and services in the youth department.
