Privacy Statement
Desert Foothills Library protects each library user’s right to privacy and confidentiality with respect to information sought or received and resources consulted, borrowed, acquired, or transmitted.
Desert Foothills Library endeavors to safeguard “Personally Identifiable Information” (PII). Desert Foothills Library collects and uses customers’ personal information to operate Library websites and deliver requested services. Such information is only disclosed when required by law or for collection of outstanding fees. The following guidelines provide information about the types of information collected, how the information is used and when it is disclosed.

Collection of Personal Information
- Information the Library may gather and retain about current and valid library users include the following: User registration information, circulation information, electronic access information and other information required to provide library services.
- Statistical Information: The Library collects information to maintain the quality of its services and to report aggregate information on the usage of its website to state agencies and national library organizations.
- The Library assumes no responsibility if a customer directly discloses personally identifiable information or personally sensitive data through other websites, chat rooms, online communities or other public online forums, resulting in this information being collected and used by others.
Use of Personal Information
Desert Foothills Library websites collect and use customer personal information to operate Library websites and deliver requested services. The Library does not sell, rent, lease or otherwise provide its customer lists or customer controlled information to third parties. Use of the Library contact list or any information therein shall only be used to communicate specific Library business.
It is the Library’s practice, when customer overdue fees reach a total of $25 or more, customers account information will be forwarded electronically to a collection agency.
Desert Foothills Library is not a public body for the purpose of Arizona Public Records Law.
Control of Personal Information
To access some Library services a library card number and customer or user name may be required. Customers may decline the service if they do not wish their information disclosed.
