11.6 Maya a large southbound asteroid struck Arizona at a shallow angle. Impacting at Verde Valley it burrowed a mile deep before exploding in Cave Creek. The seventeen mile out crater includes Black Mountain, the ten mile crater includes Spur Cross Ranch, and the overburden was blown into Mexico.

Michael Marron is currently the President of the Phoenix Astronomical Society. His interests are meteorites, planetary geophysics, cosmology, quantum physics, and teach astronomy.
