Spring is in the air, and the Desert Foothills Library is celebrating with fun, hands-on programs designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning for kids of all ages.
The road to America250 begins on March 27 with our exciting American Revolution Escape Room. In this interactive adventure designed for 3rd–8th graders, participants will step back in time to the days of the American Revolution. Working together, kids will read short informational passages and use what they learn to solve puzzles and challenges related to life during the war. Along the way, they’ll uncover fascinating facts about soldiers’ daily lives, the important roles women played in the conflict, battlefield medicine, and even the secret codes used to pass messages. It’s a fast-paced blend of history, teamwork, and problem-solving that makes learning feel like an adventure.
Then on Tuesday, March 31, get ready for something a little different, and a whole lot of fun, with our first-ever Waste Management Touch-A-Truck Storytime! We’ll celebrate what might secretly be every child’s favorite day of the week: trash pickup day. The Community Team from Waste Management will bring one of their impressive garbage trucks for kids to explore up close. Children can see the truck in action, climb up for photos, ask questions, and get a hands-on look at the big machine that helps keep our community clean.
Of course, we’ll pair the truck visit with a lively story time all about recycling, caring for our environment, and the everyday heroes who help keep our neighborhoods running smoothly. And yes, trash talk is absolutely allowed.
These programs are a great way to welcome spring with learning, laughter, and memorable experiences. Whether your child loves history, puzzles, big trucks, or all three, there’s something exciting waiting for them at the library this March. Visit www.dfla.org for more information.
